2XU Compression Run 2011

Reaching the Race Site at 7:10am, I was surprised to be told by a volunteer that the 2nd wave has already started!
It was stated in the Race Guide that the 2nd Flag Off is at 7:15am.

Started the run at a good pace, I soon succumbed to the humidity.
It is never easy for me to run in such heat.

First water point was plain water....
Second water point, I had a hard time just getting a cup of Pocari...
Third water point, the queue was so bad that I decided to skip it...
By the 5km mark, I am wondering if my forgetfulness of a gel packet will prove disastrous...

Am glad when the drizzle came even if it is only for a short while...
The heat dies down, it is so much more fun to run.

On the smooth pavement outside Esplanade and Marina Bay Sands, I decided to slow down to a brisk walk...
For some reasons, I keep visualising myself falling flat on my face and breaking my teeth again...

On the Helix Bridge, I kept hearing runners saying "The Bridge Swings!"
I dun feel it till I made the right turn to exit the bridge...
I ain't surprised that the bridge swings...
Look at this article on the London's Millemium Bridge (LMB) and you will understand.
Lessons were learnt from the 1940 collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
Lessons learnt from the LMB were applied to the design of the Helix Bridge, thus the numerous trusses.

Onto the final 400m, a lady came running alongside me...
We ended up pacing each other for the next 350m before I stepped on the accelerator. =p

Picking up my medal, I proceed to have brekkie with friends at the CityLink Mall.
