I woke up on Friday with a huge sense of emptiness.
Never knew that "post-Ironman" blues existed.
What Enrico say is spot on.
Kindly read his posting here.
Are You Suffering From Post-Racing Blues?
Throughout the whole year, your mind and body is geared towards this one single race.
Every mind boggling swim, every single ride that you do, every individual run, you are asking yourself how would it work towards the Ironman race?
You practically hate yourself for all those time spent away from your family during training.
Now is probably the time to make amends.
Time to let your body heal. You have assaulted it with physical activity for 16.5 hrs on a single day.
Now is the time to lay down plans for the year ahead.
What can I do now?
As a few friends have mentioned, it is probably time I start working on my run.
If I never believe that I can do a sub-7 hr marathon, now I start believing.
Ironman has done a lot to me.
It made me believe in myself.
It makes me believe that if one has the WILL, one can do it.
It makes me understand that an Ironman is extremely do-able. You just need to take it a step at a time, a kilometer at a time.
Truth be told, throughout the whole race, I never think of the Full Distance.
I break it down to bite size portions. I make it easier for my body and mind to digest.
At the start of the swim, I just aim for the end of the jetty.
After the swim turn, I aim for the first yellow buoy, then the next and the next.
For the bike, I just think of Coast Road.
After Coast Road, it is Tuart Drive.
After Tuart Drive? Enjoy the tailwind assisted ride back to the Start Point.
All 180km of it...
For the run, It just calculate what distance is left to cover.
I look forward to collect the wrist bands.
Break it down and an Ironman is achievable.
It gives a lot of my friends the confidence to take on the Ironman challenge.
Simply said... if Jodan can DO it. So can I. =D
All the best, guys!
