Day 149 : 7th July 2011 Running

Haha... engine almost choked waiting for the GPS to log on...

Running alone is cool as you can always run free. No fixed route.
Decided to run within the BG compound before exiting onto Bukit Timah Road.
Got lost when I could not find the Ballas Children's Garden exit. =p

Ran along Kheam Hock Road towards Lornie Road.
Got a fright when I realised where I was running past.
Route towards Thomson Road came with gentle slopes but it din bother me. I was feeling good.
Cannot say the same for the exhaust fumes from the peak hour traffic though. =(

Held back from taking my first gel till 8km...
Gosh... it turned out to be a grave mistake...
Haiz... after all these years, I came to know my nutrition plan, but din stick to it and paid the price for it. =(

Haha... maybe I wanna to see if the gel will really give me the boost that it known for. =D
Verdict? Roctane taste milder than the usual GU gel, but it definitely seems to work better.
Could it be psychological, I do not really know.
But what I do know is that I am starting a new cycle of perspiration.
I usually perspire a lot during the first few kilometers and it tends to slow down tremendously as the distance stretches...
So this new cycle is definitely something new for me...

Got buffeted by the strong aromatic smells as I ran past numerous eating houses...
I definitely choose a wrong route to run...

3km later, the stomach got the better of me and I took a second gel...
Definitely not something that I have hope for...

Taking a normal GU gel after Roctane seems to dilute the "boost" effect. =(
Agreed with some of the comments that I have been reading with regards to Roctane.
It is better to keep Roctane for races and half marathon distances than to "waste" it for a training run. =p
I just cannot brush aside the idea that Roctane is equivalent to a very sumptuous meal!!! =D

Hit Prata Hill and I felt flat...
Ended up walking up the entire Prata Hill...
Was glad that I was able to continue running after Prata Hill.

Hit Sembawang Slopes and the legs literally gave up...
Haha... I dun mind slopes at the start of the run...
Placing these two huge slopes at the end of the run is really demoralising...
I think I need to do hill repeats....

Walked the final 3 kilometer back home. =)
Good home run nonetheless. =)
