Day 147 : 9th July 2011 Cycling

Experienced a sharp pain in the molar region around 10:30pm the night before...
Wah... never had toothache before, dunno how it will be like.
An hour later, the pain lingers...
Is it going to cost me my ride tomorrow?

Woke up with a dull ache... Phew...

****

We have a huge group today... 25 of us in all! =)
The group started off fast. Within minutes we have two packs and I tried to keep pace with the first pack.

We probably made it about 3km when I decided to stop keeping pace.
This is going to burn me out fast.

Rode alone for a while before BFG came and keep my company. Thanks, BFG!
Before we knew it, we have a steady train behind us.
Keke, after a few kms, I din wanna say it, but I think BFG saw the fatigue showing on my face and asked if I wanna to let the others pull us.
Both of us fall back to ride rear. =)

We hit town and the group split.
Some riders stop to take a break while rode on.

After tagging Sam and Lindsey for a bit, I was soon riding alone.
Decided to treat this as a steady ride in preparation for IMWA.

Rode at a constant pace.
Was surprised that I am keeping a relative distance with Judy's group.
Had Kristal as my draftee for the distance. =)

Decided to stop at 33km for a break.
Water, salt pill and Clif Bloks.
Much as I feel the need to take the GU gel, my mind keep screaming for solid food.
Decided to skip the gel and soldier on.

Wah... right around the corner is a slope!!!
I stopped for my break at the right time. =D

In fact, Coastal was not entirely flat.
I did not notice that during the last ride...
Maybe my mind literally shut down thinking of the lunch break ahead... =D

Ivan rode past and I truly feel like stopping to take a photo.
The view of the long straight road and Ivan in his aero position with his Red Look and yellow M cycling in the middle of a deserted road really looks amesome.
Will probably make it to his profile picture if I manage to capture the shot. =p
Time to get an on-board camera?

12 O'Clock, 9 O'Clock, I almost ended up on E22!!!
Did a quick U-turn and ask a driver for directions. =p

Reached Petronas and the guys were ready to move off.
Took a bun and Milo Mocha.
Trainer pushed us to move off, but I have yet to fill up my bottles! =p
Greg turned into the petrol station and Trainer decided to give me a break. =p

Riding out with Greg, I was surprised when he suffered on the slopes.
I rode past Tg. Belungkor.
I have no intention of doing the additional 34km route given the heat and humidity.
Was surprised when Jason came out of the roadside stall and shout out to me.
Stopped for a Teh-O before continuing.

Hmm... the slopes before town does not feel as bad...
Is it due to ample rest?

I literally count down the km markers to Sg Rengit.
The slopes hit badly from 8km and it did not stop till 5km...
3km of pure torture...

Stopped at the T-junction to wait for the guys.
Greg pulled into a waterhole and we had another round of drinks there. =D

Once everyone is hydrated enough, we rode on to Jade Restaurant.
Was surprised to see Judy, Law, Alan, Kenny and YP has completed with their lunch!!!
Haha... Greg was just telling us that Alan will always complete the distance and do not like to take route discount. =D

After lunch, it was time to ride back to the Ferry Terminal.

Albert pulled the group who were riding nicely in a single file. =)

Sean rode past and I smell trouble. =D
Haha... It was quite a sight when you see the riders undecided...
Total absolute mayhem...
Again, a video would have provide good evidence...

Trainer once told me why ladies ride better than guys...
It is a male ego thing. =D
Guys will chiong, rest, chiong, rest...
Ladies just ride constant...

I decided to do it the ladies's way today. =D
Haha... in fact the whole constant thing started during Passion Run...

The same thought ran through my mind what I did during the run..
"Reel them in, reel them in"

With Evie as my draftee, we did a slow patient ride reeling the guys in. =)
Jon, Albert, Ivan, Sam and Lindsey all got caught...
It is interesting but not surprising that they weren't able to join the draft. ;)
Sam was surprised to see us. "Where did you guys come from!" =D

Finish Strong. =)

Overall, I am very happy with today's ride.
Not sure if it is due to the fact that I skip the toughest part of the course.
Given that I know both directions of the course now, I have no qualms taking on Tg. Belungkor during the next ride. =)
I had a plan midway during the ride and that is to ride constant and I am happy to be able to execute the plan. Desaru provide an excellent location to do this ride without traffic lights. =)

Happy with my hyrdation and nutrition too.
Much less than I have expected.

I need to do more of these rides to prepare myself for BnB and WA. =)

4.5L isontonic drinks (which I did not manage to complete. Huge improvement over the 6L which I downed and still not feeling enough) Hmm... why do I sound like a Humvee... =D
2 Salt Pill, 3 Clif Bloks

1 Bun, 1 Milo Mocha
