Day 186 : 31st May 2011 Cycling

The hardest day was yesterday...

With the high humidity, it really affects a cyclist's without one realising it.

I think I was hit by the high humidity yesterday.
The jersey was soaking wet despite cycling only 25km.

Started the day on a relatively better note today.
The air is cooler and the humidity stands at 79-89 degree today!

Cycling along Mandai Road, I was surprised to see a cyclist ahead after Old Mandai Road.
Thus started the chase.
Hmm... who could it be? Winnie?
With every slope, I close the gap. =)

Overtook her (not Winnie) and her companion.
Chase another team which looks like a mother and son pair.
Overtook them but they rode past me on the Mandai Lake slope.
I just could not let go of the brakes down the slope. =(
Sean's words keep coming back to haunt me...
His PCC experience where he let go off his brakes down the steep slopes and flew at speeds in excess of 70kmh...
Mandai Lake slope's gradient is nowhere near that of PCC!!!

Is it the bike or is it the bike fall? I got no way to tell.
But things are never the same after December 2010. =(

Reached Mandai Shell. Baoying and 2 other riders are turning right...
I did a leftie.
The riders in front of me are all spread very far out.
If there is a peloton, they are nowhere in sight.
From Woodlands to Hume Ave, I overtook the cyclists of which none of them I recognised. =/
By the time I reached Bukit Timah Road, I was bushed...
A tour bike cyclist took pleasure in overtaking me and zoomed away into the distance...
Argh...
Along Marymount Road, the stomach started growling...
Tempted to stop at McD...
Instead I dig into a bowl of wanton noodles before proceeding home.

=====

When EN says that after Desaru, riding will never be the same again. I totally agree!
But I guess my reasons will not be similar to the others.
Singapore Roads sucks!!!
I love traffic lights, cos it give me a chance to rest and drink up.
But I am fine if there is no traffic lights too.
Just hydrate on the move, although that is my least preferred choice.

But my pet peeve is the uneven Singapore roads.
With so much construction going on and so much patch work, the ride is an unpleasant one...
Cos now you know that you now have a choice, albeit an expensive one. =D
