Day 175 : 11th June 2011 Cycling

After 3 days of unwanted rest, it is time to start cycling again...

Waking up at 3:42am, I decided to do a Mandai Loop and meet the guys at LongHouse.
Reaching Mandai Shell at 5:10am, I am convinced that the Secret Society Ride has left.
There is no way the bullet train will need 30 minutes to reach Mandai Shell.

Thus I continue on my journey alone, hoping against hope that the traffic lights will stop the choingsters.

Met a fellow JoyRider at the Bukit Panjang Traffic Junction and was awed at how he can ride away with relative ease.
I am doing a higher cadence, but just could not keep up with him.
I was huffing and puffing away, but he seems to be doing it a leisure pace.

Short of time, I decided not to take the Newton route.
Turn left onto Lornie Road, I spotted Ivan and Jason at SPC.
Stayed with them to wait for HC.
Was extremely surprised to see the bullet train speed by. =D
Took a salt pill and offered them to the rest.
Haha... machiam like dispensing drugs. =p

Reached LongHouse with lots of time to spare.
Keke, quite a few were surprised that I actually meet up at LongHouse instead of the usual Mandai Shell. =D

Starting at the front of the pack made no difference when you are always the last few to reach the destination.
It does not matter though. I enjoyed the company very much. =)

When we re-grouped at Lim Chu Kang, I took another salt pill.

Having read an article the day before about over-hydration, under-hydration and too much sodium can lead to swelling of the hands and feet, I am hoping it does not happen.
Anyway, this is a good time to test it out.
(This is probably what happened to my 3 marathons where I experienced swelling)

During the Jalan Buroh RV, the guys decided that we shall do the West Coast Viaduct, but I preferred the roads. =p
Was caught at the traffic light after the petrol station... 天意?
Just when I thought I can could catch them at Clementi, I got stopped by the traffic light again!!!
As the saying goes "Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it!!!"

Did a solo ride to Amoy Street and was surprised to see I was there alone! =D

Had brekkie at Maxwell Food Center before proceeding home.

Instead of riding via the usual JR Ride home, we decide to do a shortcut.
Distance will be shorter, but traffic will be heavy.
That is where I learn something very important about group rides.
Unity is Strength on heavily travelled roads. Cars will think twice before they try something funny.

Along Ang Mo Kio, I decide to take another salt pill as I feel cramps setting in.
It is like taking a Magic Pill. Not sure if it can really take effect so fast...
Maybe it is partly psychological too?

Another century ride where I dun feel post-race painful eyes and tiredness.
Maybe I am getting my nutrition right?

2 GU gels, 3 Salt Pills, 4 Clif Bloks, 6 full Water Bottles.
I am a 水桶!!!
