29th December 2011 - Running

Feeling all the fats getting back on, I know it is time to start running again.

Back to the "crazy" (none of my colleagues can comprehend how someone can run home from work ;p) routine, I started my run on a cool day.
Kept a steady pace for the first 7km.
Took my first gel and started to walk and run.
I attribute it to the undulating slopes after the 7km.
I feel good.

Hitting 12km, I felt hungry and quickly pop in my second gel.
The hungry sensation did not go away after 2km and I forced myself to swallow an entire tube of Clif Bloks!
I literally bonked after 12km...
There is no way that I can run after 12km no matter how hard I try.
The thigh muscles refuse to work.
BRUTAL... Running is such a brutal sport.
One moment you are feeling high - on the top of the world - , next moment you are send crashing down to earth.
Stretching and sitting down to rest did not help.
I soldiered on and managed to walk home.
Although I can easily hop on a bus, it never cross my mind to do so. =p
I doubt I would have done that.

I think I rely too much on luck during race day.
I may not have that many luck for my next IM.
Time to really buck up...
